The classroom cares and observes their pet snails:
1.
Pick up some snails while on an adventure to your local park after a wet rainy day. Look for them under rocks or branches (or simply order them online!).
2.
Place a layer of small rocks, then a layer of dirt and perhaps some leaves and small branches in a transparent plastic or glass container that will now serve as your vivarium. You may use an aquarium, or any plastic container with lots and lots of holes on its cover. The holes should of course be small enough that the snails will not escape but plentiful as to maintain a healthy and clean environment.

Either poke lots and lots and lots of holes on the cover of your container. Or better yet, cover the container with a net and secure the net solidly and firmly but so that it could still be easily removed. |

Enjoy: experiment, observe, play games and most importantly: Have Fun!
Your are done but the fun has just began: here are some experiment ideas:
experiment with their sense of taste, see which liked playdough more than oatmeal mush, carots vs cucumbers, apples vs bananas... even sand vs chalk?
test their sensitivity to touch: let them crawl on different types of surface (plastic, fabric, glass, rocks, sandpaper, do they care? why or why not?
test
their excellent sense of smell, bring a cotton ball slightly dipped in vinegar or lemon juice and watch their reaction. How about sugar water?
experiment with a flash light, a mirror, do they like their own reflection?
race them and observe how difficult it is to keep them going on a straight line.
draw them, paint them, try our arts and craft section!
